Apple Launches iPad Air (2019) Service Program to Fix ‘Blank Screen’ Issue

Apple launched a service program for iPad Air (2019) models that have a “Blank Screen” issue. The Cupertino giant announced that the problem affected a “limited number” of third-generation iPad Air models launched last year. Affected consumers can use iPad Air to visit an Apple authorized service provider for services. As an alternative, the company provided courier services through its Apple Repair Centers in selected markets. The service program for the iPad Air (2019) is particularly active worldwide, covering defective devices for two years after the first purchase in the store.

Under certain circumstances, the problem can occur when the iPad Air (2019) in question runs out permanently. “A blink or short flash may appear before the screen goes blank,” noted Apple on the support page when setting the “iPad Air (3rd generation) service program for blank screen issues”.

The company added that the iPad Air devices in question were produced between March and October 2019. In addition, the program does not include other iPad models.

If you are one of the affected users, you will need to visit your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store. You can also choose to receive email service after contacting Apple Support if you live in the U.S. or another supported market. Users in India can also visit any of Apple’s authorized service providers for a complimentary solution to the problem with the blank screen.

It is recommended that users back up their iPad to iCloud or their computer before uploading it to the service. It is also important to note that the service program does not extend the standard iPad Air Warranty (2019).

The iPad Air (2019) was launched in March last year alongside the latest iPad mini model. It comes with a 10.5-inch LED backlight Retina display and is powered by the A12 Bionic chip. The latest model of the iPad Air also supports Apple Pencil and has Touch ID. An iFixit test also found that the iPad Air (2019) has a greater battery capacity than the iPad Air 2.
